I chose to study political science because I wanted to understand our world and how we can make it better. In my research I address important questions that matter for political and development outcomes in our world, such as what happens when weak states democratize, what causes corruption and why citizens pay tax. You can find out more about my research here. In my teaching I aim to inspire my students to think critically, evaluating the world and their place in it. You can read more about my teaching here. I actively contribute to public debate - read more here. My full CV is available here.
